Similar to other ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings are composed of inner and outer races, ball complement and bearing cage; however, different to other ball bearings like a deep groove ball bearing, an angular contact ball bearing is designed with axially asymmetric race.
Single row angular contact ball bearings are usually used in machine tool spindles, high-frequency motors, gas turbines, centrifugal separators, the front hub of mini vehicles, differential pinions, etc.
Angular contact ball bearings have raceways in the inner and outer rings that are displaced with respect to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. This means that they are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads.
